SLEMCOOP Foundation

SLEMCOOP FOUNDATION INC. is a foundation registered with the Securities And Exchange Commission (SEC). The purpose of which is to enhance the development and implementation of the cooperative's social programs for its members and the community.
The Foundation is the trustee of the funds for all the social programs of the cooperative for its members such as; The CoopCare, CoopHealth, Coop Members Retirement Benefit Program and the Coop Scholarship Program. And also, pursues revenue generating projects in order to carry on the purpose of its existence.
REVENUE GENERATING PROJECTS:
1.0 Health
Plus Shop is the sale of Health Plus drugs, in partnership with the National Pharmaceutical Foundation, as franchisee. The undertaking supports the cooperative's indigency program that addresses the less fortunate people of the province' need for medical assistance. The assistance is in the form of free medicines and being administered by the SOYMPH as part of a Memorandum of Agreement between SLEMCOOP and the Province of Southern Leyte. Health Plus is the trademark for quality generic drugs being distributed by the National Pharmaceutical Foundation (NPF) with the support from GTZ, the German Government's international development enterprise.
2.0 SLEMBOO (Engineered Bamboo Processing Project) is the development of a "BOK-BOK Free" bamboo craft industry. The project enlists the organized folks of Barangay Sto Nino,in Macrohon, as project implementor. Sto Nino is noted for its voluminous supply of bamboo grass. The locals provide the labor for processing and are paid for their outputs. In a way, the project started to provide new source for their additional income. The project is supported by two government agencies; The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). Their help provides the overall direction of the project.

3.0 G FRESH (Vegetable Farm Development Project) is a demonstration farm located at the vicinity, adjacent to the cooperative's housing project in Ibarra. Approximately 1 hectare of agricultural land is devoted for the project and cash crops such as ampalaya, eggplant, sweet pepper and etc., are raised at present. The farm partially sells its products at the COOPMART. The project is pursued with the optimism that an organic method of farming will be ultimately adapted promoting increased productivity, sustainability, environment friendly and safety to health.
